Mimer SQL on HP-UX

Mimer SQL Engine is available for the Hewlett Packard UNIX operating system, known as HP-UX. The platform is based upon the Precision Architecture RISC processor (PA-RISC).

Mimer SQL Engine is available on HP-UX, running on processors based on PA-RISC architecture version 1.1 or 2.0. It is enabled for Symmetric Multi Processing (SMP) and the implementation uses POSIX threads and asynchronous I/O provided by HP-UX 11.

To optimize performance when running Mimer SQL Engine on HP-UX, we recommend that you place frequently accessed Mimer databank files, on character devices, also known as raw devices. By using a raw device, the file system layer is avoided and I/O operations are performed directly to the disk. Take extra care to ensure that no part of the regular file system is overlapped by a raw device partition dedicated for databank file use.

JDBC- and ODBC drivers are included in the base distribution for Mimer SQL Engine.

To ensure that Mimer SQL runs correctly on the HP-UX platform, you need the HP-UX-patch: PHNE_20436. If you are using a raw device, you also need the HP-UX-patch: PHKL_18543. You can get these patches and related information from Hewlett Packard, Inc.

To be able to compile most of the example programs supplied with the Mimer SQL distribution, you need an ANSI/C compatible compiler.
